This has been an amazing week. Not only am I working on 3 quilts at the same time. But my students are currently preparing for end of year standardized testing. I teach for a homeschool Co-op that takes both traditionally homeschooled children but we also take children enrolled in virtual public schools. Simply put the choice to allow Virtual school students attend our religious program has not been an effective one. Not that I have a problem with the virtual public schools, my kids love them and use them. But many of the kids in our religious program want to focus on religious studies, and this is just not possible with a Virtual school.
So next week we have 5 kids who will be taking CRCT testing and who will need to be transported off site to the testing center (by me of course) . The Elementary will have to go in the morning and the middle schoolers will have to go in the afternoon. At the same time I will have to be administering CAT testing to the homeschool kids in the afternoon. FUN FUN FUN. Thankfully I will have a volunteer to keep things in control while I run back and forth to pick up the kids. I wish it could be simple and I could just let the volunteers do the running. But different volunteers on different days, and release paperwork just do not mix.
BUT THANK GOD, I have still managed to keep up with my quilting. My sister in laws quilt is almost done. I am doing now is the hand stitches on the bias tape. I am hoping I will manage to find time to print the instructions tomorrow.

I decided to go another way with the embroidery. Since this quilt has a Victorian rose garden theme, I decided to take it all the way and embroidery a single rose on each block and alternate directions in each row. I wish I could show you how beautiful this quilt is in pictures but it is just not possible.
I do not have a big easy quilter, nor do I want to pay the 100$ minimum, the local quilt shop charges to rent it for an hour to do the a baby quilt. So believe it or not I do my quilting on my home embroidery machine. At first I though it would take FOREVER. But Thank God it only takes about 2 full work days or 16 hours(As I said I do not have a full day to sit at the machine). And for me that is work the savings of 100$
This is my home embroidery machine my DH bought me as a gift last summer. I have been dreaming on one for several years, but I could never imagine spending that kind of money on crafts. But he is the Craigslist pro. And managed to find my dream machine second hand for a steal. Basiclly he got over 1000$ in software and equipment for $150. Even this bothered me until I started making money with the machine. I have not made a profit, but I have defiantly paid off the machine with the few contracts I have made. I even have a quilt currently being displayed in Emory Clinic, can you believe it. I have even made a little money digitizing designs for people. It has been a real fun thing to have around. Not to mention all the fun I can have making things for my family and friends.
