I thought I would post a few pictures of the quilt I am working on for my sister in law(Hi Morgan). Though honestly pictures can not do this quilt justice, especially on weebly where they have to be fairly small. I have a long way to go to finish. I am barely doing the piece work. As I explained in the last blog my sewing machine has been giving me some difficulities so I decided on a simple traditional piecework quilt with squares only. I thought I would make up for the simple quilt design with beautiful fabrics and quilting. I use my embroidery machine for the quilting but sadly my embroidery machine is not a combination machine so it will only do computer embroidery no straight stitching.. My sister in law had asked for a Victorian quilt and they are traditionally simple with beautiful quilting anyway.
So here are some of the pictures I was wondering any suggestions on what color to back it with? My daughter says to use off white fabric to back it. But I am leaning to the pink roses fabric. Any suggestions? I am also debating about lace or no lace. Victorian would traditionally have lace but I am not sure if it would be good or if it would irritate the baby. Maybe eyelet lace would be softer. It would depend. For the most part I have seen quilts used as either a bed cover or more as a play mat where the baby lies on the blanket rather than is wrapped up in them. So in that case lace would be ok. But since this one is going to be highly quilted and less comforter like than most in the past, I think their may be a chance it will be used to wrap the baby. So what do you think? Any opinions?

This is the quilt top. Now the real work begins QUILTING. Thank God for fusable batting and my embroidery machine. I would be lost without them. They have made quilting much easier.
This is the basic pattern. It is really hard to see the colors in such a small picture but , it really looks amazing. My sister in law originally liked a quilt with more peaches and browns, but I could not find any good fabrics so I steered toward more rose colored fabrics.
I wanted to show the white fabric because it looks different up close than in a picture. It is really off white with white decorations.
This is one of the patterns I am planning to use for the quilting.
